Curiosity and Silence.
Breaking the silence!
I've been gone, distracted, frantically going from utter excitement to feeling overwhelmed by the many possibilities for decoration this new place offers...
Oh yes, and I've been walking on air since the Mars Science Laboratory flawlessly landed last Sunday!
So I haven't watched a single Olympic game, but I definitely stayed up to see this little curled-up mechanical dog descend into the red planet. In preparation, we started eating astronaut ice cream 4 hours before the event...
We are Mars rovers fan in this household. Also, ice cream lovers.
If you missed it, I can tell you it was a pristine operation: nerve-wrecking and momentous. I'm sure the brave scientists are still concerning themselves with a few milliseconds lost here and there, but to the uninitiated eye it seemed beautifully flawless.
I realize I've posted 2 animations in 2 weeks —bear with me!
I'm just trying to illustrate the effects of the word "touchdown" on NASA scientists. :)
