about

Hello, traveler!

I am Anabel: part gnome, part gargoyle. Torn between the life of a collector and a minimalist, in an adoring relationship with the woods.

I grew up in the strange city of Havana, taking its perfect beaches for granted and speaking very fast Spanish.

In recent years I've been moving around the North-American northeast, experiencing the four seasons and crossing some things off my childhood dreams list. I love living in a place where the deer roam, in a climate that allows for scarves to be worn most the year.

On this blog I share my ruminations through photographs, and explore the things I've learnt from toying with ink & paper. You'll see back-of-the-napkin ideas take shape, and doodles turn into tangible friends.

What's going on with me, as of May:

• I'm thrilled about the tree canopy that's forming around the apartment — it's green in every direction! Like curtains specially made by nature for our big windows...

• The possibility of visiting a local alpaca farm. I must touch their beautiful alpaca faces!

• Songbird at 5 A.M.

• Excitement about a new, bigger piece I'm working on. It involves paper cutting and illustration.
